ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Nancy has taught weekly studio classes and workshops for thirty three (33) years. Teaching plein air workshops on Cape Ann/Rockport MA has been unmeasureable pleasure as a painting experience; being a part of the American painting tradition. Her paintings are about her interaction with what she experiences; talking to an animal or seeing it for the first time. How does a painter share these experiences with others? A painting allows the viewer to have their own opinion, their own interaction.
"Traveling has been a visual experience. Have you ever seen a snake with eyelashes or lion cubs jumping on each other in play?"
Through color, drawing, and paint we share our way of life. Often the content of a body of work has much to do with the way an artist thinks. Painting has a lot to do with life, not just brush strokes put on a canvas. We learn about new places, see a new species for the first time, meet interesting people, and th relate these experiences on canvas.
