WORKSHOP INFORMATION

Time:  9:00 to 3:00 (workshop begins promptly at 9 AM)

Workshop presenter:  Phil Wood
Phil Wood is a freelance artist from Fort Recovery, Ohio.  For the last 24 years he has worked in oil, pastel, wood, marble, clay and pencil.  He has studied portrait painting under Daniel Greene.  He believes in the importance of drawing and that every serious artist must discipline themselves by increasing their drawing skills.  He is a member of the Dayton Society of Painters & Sculptors, the American Society of Portrait Painters and the Greenville Art Guild.
Topics:   Techniques to improve your painting, such as how to draw and paint from live models, how to do set ups and proper lighting, etc.   Phil will give demonstrations as well as help individual artists.  A live model will be available for part of the workshop.
Who should attend:  Anyone wanting techniques to improve his or her
painting or drawing skills.  This is appropriate for beginning to advanced artists.  Media recommended for the workshop include pencil, pastel, charcoal, oil & acrylic.

A list of supplies to bring in addition to your medium of choice:
Standing easel (for those who are able), bar stool (optional), baby wipes, trash bags, rags, paper towels, maul stick (cane or dowel rod), hand held mirror, camera (optional), TV tray or small stand to hold supplies, drop cloth to put under easel
Pastel artists – a beginner pastel set is OK, any medium color paper such as sand, tan green, earthy tones is acceptable, just not white or dark
Oil painters- a beginner set of oil paints is OK, bring 6 different size brushes, odorless paint thinner, 2 canvases (16X20 or 18X24 recommended)  Recommended colors:  ivory black, fast drying white, yellow ochre, raw sienna, burnt sienna, raw umber, burnt umber, sap green, alizarin crimson, Prussian blue, cerulean blue, cad red light, cad yellow medium
