ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Marcia is currently and has been the Director of the Anna Bier Gallery for the last 10 years. The gallery is located at Memorial Hall, Greenville, OH It is a non-profit organization that promotes and supports the visual arts. By exhibiting artists from around the country, she has been inspired and educated by the artists' individual styles.
Marcia has been intrigued with art since childhood. She has been a full-time mother to three beautiful girls and a part-time artist for the past 21 years. She has studied under Sandy Cable-Barringer and Nancy Foureman along with other workshop experiences. Within the last five years she has been dedicating more time to painting. She is enjoying watercolor and oils, trying to capture in every painting the essence of charm and romance of everyday sights. Color, shape and brushstrokes are what she aims for in every painting, along with warm light, drawing viewers into the paintings.
Learning to see what is really there is a lesson she often draws from to depict the accuracy of her work.
She often refers to a quote from Vincent Van Gogh:

"If you hear a voice within you saying 'you are not a painter', then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced."
