"Winning the President's Award at the Annual Juried Art Exhibiiion in 2009 gave me the opportunity to exhibit with the Best of Show winner. This was a welcome challenge for me. The more I have learned about art the more I realize how much there is to learn. It is a wonderful adventure!"

Ann became serious about her painting in the last six years. She has entered competitions at: Richmond Art Museum, Preble County Art Association, Darke County Fair and Greenville Art Guild. She is a member of the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, Richmond Art Museum, and Greenville Art Guild, Randolph County, and Hoosier Salon.

Ann grew up in Centerville, Indiana and graduated from Indiana University in 1953 with a degree in Textile Merchandising. While working at Wm. H. Black in Indianapolis Ann met Olin Wiland and they were married in 1956 and they moved Richmond, Indiana in 1957.

During college Ann took one art course, Art Appreciation. Ann had always enjoyed art but did not pursue another art class until 1963 when she took a night course at Earlham College with Elmira Kempton. Miss Kempton was very encouraging; Ann studied oil and watercolor.

While raising three children Ann painted occasionally. After they were grown she served on the Richmond Art Museum board and joined the Richmond Art Club. She has studied with: Ray Stevens, Doris Turnbaugh, Jackie Shultz, Nita Leland, Mary Ann Davis, Carol Strock-Wasson, Thelma Frame and Nancy Foureman and has taken a semester at I.U. East with Tom Thomas in oil painting.
